About Dr. Rebecca Afriyie

Dr. Rebecca Afriyie, known as Dr. RA, is a Nurse, PhD in Philosophy, healthcare leader, educator, business consultant, and founder of The Clear Caregiver Academy™. She is also the creator of The Clear Caregiver Method™.

Drawing on her doctoral studies in philosophy, decades of healthcare leadership, extensive clinical experience, and business consulting experience, she has dedicated her career to understanding what influences caregiver well-being, professional effectiveness, leadership, and organizational performance.

Dr. RA’s experience in healthcare spans direct caregiving, nursing, home health, hospice, leadership, administration, and business ownership. Her professional experience also includes working with an Inc. 500 business consulting company serving businesses throughout the United States and Canada. In that role, she worked directly with businesses to examine operations, identify factors affecting performance and profitability, and assist owners and leaders in implementing strategies intended to strengthen business performance and the bottom line.

Throughout her years in healthcare, Dr. RA observed a troubling pattern: highly skilled and deeply compassionate caregivers were leaving the profession emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the purpose that originally called them to serve.

The common explanation was burnout.

Dr. RA began to look more deeply at what caregivers were experiencing. She observed how accumulated stress, grief, emotional burdens, and the demands of caregiving could affect a caregiver’s presence, resilience, and professional effectiveness.

Determined to better understand these challenges, Dr. RA studied neuroscience, human behavior, emotional regulation, leadership, adult learning, and the factors that influence how people grow, heal, and change.

Through this interdisciplinary study, she recognized the importance of the internal state of the caregiver.

Caregivers bring more than clinical knowledge and technical skill into the care environment. They also bring their beliefs, emotional patterns, nervous-system responses, personal histories, experiences, and levels of self-awareness. These factors can influence communication, teamwork, leadership, workplace culture, and the experience of care.

This understanding became the foundation for The Clear Caregiver Method™.

Today, Dr. RA works with healthcare organizations and healthcare professionals through education, consulting, coaching, leadership development, organizational development, and The Clear Caregiver Academy™.

Her consulting work includes supporting healthcare organizations and business owners as they examine business and organizational challenges, performance, operations, and factors affecting the bottom line.

Her coaching work provides individualized support for healthcare business owners, leaders, and individual healthcare workers seeking professional and personal development, greater clarity, and support in navigating the demands of their work.

Through The Clear Caregiver Academy™, Dr. RA provides education and development centered on The Clear Caregiver Method™, including the Certified Clear Caregiver pathway.

At the center of her work is a commitment to helping caregivers learn to care deeply without carrying what does not belong to them.

Her mission is to transform healthcare by helping caregivers remain whole while caring for others.

The future of healthcare depends not only on what caregivers know, but also on who they become.

When caregivers thrive, patients benefit.

When caregivers remain clear, teams become stronger.

When caregivers remain whole, healthcare systems become healthier.
